My router is an ASUS DSL N55U
I have a silly number of devices connected to it through various ways.
I have 2 switches, and Physically connected via these switches, are 17 PCs and 2 NAS boxes.
Wirelewsly, are a load of Tablets, and Mobile phones and a couple of Laptops of course.
Bit OTT I suppose, but our family all have more than one PC and I have a LAN room too.
Now, in most cases, I have zero issues, however, 2 of the users in the house are eating the network.
I am one, with my utorrent client, and my son is the other with his bloody xbox gaming.
If I have my torrents on, then the whole internet gets crippled, and when he has his games on, thats the same, and it kills everyone elses chances of enjoying the internet. Watching YouTube or catching up on Emmerdale for example is completely impossible.
With utorrent, even though I have tried adjusting all kinds of things, there seems to be no difference at all. The one thing that I do notice, is that even if there are no torrents downloading or uploading, it makes no difference and that simply having it running, kills my internet stone dead for anything else on this, or any other PC.
Ok, the torrents, I try not to use it rhoughout the day, but I start it up at night before I go to bed, and thats mostly cured my issues, but my son plays his xbox througout the day, and when he does that, the rest of the house cannot do a thing?
What can I do, that will help me lower his bandwidth... I know I can try QoS but that does not seem to be making a blind bit of difference.
What settings exactly do I need to do with it?
Please guide me...Im an idiot.
