anyone know of other options?

What phone have you got? GMail app is available for quite a few modern phones from m.google.com.

Do you have outlook/outlook express available?

Try setup an IMAP or POP account on it pointing at your gmail account.

Shout if you need the details.

If its absolutely imperative you have to reply and its not confidential and you trust me enough I can do it for you. My MSN is in trust.

it's confidential sadly.
can't MSN it as no MSN on here.
it's blocked on the proxy (web filter) so outlooks not gonna work (host is blocked)
that gmail lite thing worked a treat! thanks guys!
this just secured me a new job! :D

funnly enought you CAN dissconnect from the proxy (ie change your IE settings) but that doesn't make ANY difference!
personnaly I'd have set it so you can't change that anyway, or if it was redundant leave it blank ????
anyway. yup got the http://gml.everyfilipino.com/ working so thats all good! the mobile things installed but very bad signal here so no use trying that!
new job starts 22nd at the NHS doing IT support :) safe work at last!

Sounds like it does route everything through it then! Congrats on the new job!

I'd already had a try at that, and using the IP rather than URL. guessing this is pretty well locked down.
