Need Help, Mis-sold Laptop

Guys hopefully someone can help me with this issue I'm having with a competitor which I doubt I can post the name of here.

I bought a laptop back in December from a very large official re-seller of Acer, this past week the charger broke down and I called Acer support to see what can be done. I was told on the phone that the laptop was registered to a different name and had in fact been purchased in September and repaired on 2 occasions before being returned......

Called the re-seller and was told send it back and we will replace, which in theory is great but I have over 180GB of data on this including music bought on Itunes, second option they said was to give me a £20 credit because it was second hand and I keep the laptop (this is stupid as if the actual laptop goes faulty then I'm stuck with no warranty)

The customer service has been awful and I'm seriously p******, do any of you guys know of anything that can be done from my end or have I been shafted and have to deal with it.

Any help would be great.

Cheers

Sold as a new product, they dont even offer refurb products, second problem is the charger is as explained dead now and the laptop is completely drained so that shoots the backup idea out the window...

I'm sure I could backup the hard disk but lets say i wasnt a technical person then what??

The advice is much appreciated,

Thanks

Again thanks for the advice guys,

I wish I could link to the site you would see what I mean they are a massive online retailer of laptops and also an official re-seller of Acer.

To be honest if they had been nice or tried to be helpful I would have been more open to sorting it with the least of hassle but every call I have made has been nothing but nonsense and they just dont want to help so I would rather push it as far as I can.

Thanks again,

The technical side of backing up is not a problem, and to be honest after speaking to Trading Standards just now it seems that I will have to take this on the chin as all I can get is a brand new replacement which means I will have to do a backup anyway...

LD is the one mate....

Yeah its only the charger which is fair enough but finding out from Acer that i technically dont have a warranty as its not registered with me and has been repaired 2 times before it was returned makes me think I should push this a bit further.

@*Moangroan*

That did cross my mind but not sure I can deal with the hassle.

Thanks for all the advice guys, will be chasing this up I have already spoken to Trading Standards and the process is under way, I will be pushing for a refund and getting the hard drive backed up...
