A number of my games are not working and ive decided to reinstall windows home but because of missing files it will not let me is there anyway to get them back i have tried cleaning the cd but it isnt scratched and has not helped. I have not changed any hardware since i last reinstalled windows onto this comp.

Run Memtest+. Most of the time when windows install cannot read files it's because of dodgy memory or unstable settings espicially if the files it cannot read change each time.
