Guys,

I need your help!! Can someone build me a gaming PC with the following?

1 - It must be a small factor gaming PC.
2 - I need the best small (good airflow/cooling) case money can buy. The height can be no more than 36cm (very important). The depth 47cm. The width 50cm.
3 - It must include a 980ti (a must).
4 - No water cooling. I won't be overclocking the CPU or GPU.
5 - Must include an SSD and a second HDD.
6 - Must be able to run The Witcher 3, Crysis 3, etc on max settings with normal temps.

My real gripe is the case. I was going to go for the Corsair Carbide Air 540 Case but the height is a little too much. I did think about the Corsair Carbide Air 240 Case, however, I am concerned this doesn't provide the best cooling. I need a case with the above dimensions that provides the absolute best cooling.

Many thanks!!

Thanks a lot for your replies. They are both very similar. Which do you think is better? I will probably ask for additional fans to be included in the available spaces.

What do you guys think of my build below? Please note, for some reason it doesn't give me the option to change the RAM to 16GB, however, it does give me the option when I select the Haswell base configuration (but I don't need an i7, just an i5). So the RAM will be 16GB in the final build.

The front of the cabinet will be entirely open. There will be at least 20cm of free room on each side and at the back of the PC. There is also a hole on top of the cabinet for further ventilation.

Yes, I will be getting OCUK to build. Thanks for the heads up on the USB, I won't need a DVD bay. I guess I can drop the CPU Cooler to Noctua NH-L9i Low Profile Quiet CPU Cooler. I will also get all the fans configured for maximum airflow. Apart from this, does it look like a solid rig?

Just saw your last post. That looks great. Isn't the WD Black better than Blue? Also, I am leaning towards to Corsair 240 Case for some reason.

I am tempted to go with 650w, just in case. Is that an issue?

Also, the Corsair 240 Case comes with configurable fans, please see below:

Rear - 2 x 80mm (optional)
Right Side - 1 x 120mm (optional)
Bottom - 2 x 120 (optional)

Which ones are worth adding and from the website which ones are recommended?

Lol, sorry. I see that the Silverstone TJ08B-E Temjin Evolution is also an option. Slightly higher in height but enough to fit into my cabinet. Will this be a better option for airflow?

Thanks a lot, Lee. I am in contact with Customer Services and I am waiting to here back on my last build.

In regards to the space in the cabinet. There is a lot of room for width and depth. For height though, the cabinet is 39.6cm and the case height (Temjin) is at 37.4cm. So I have an extra 2.2cm space. Not sure if this is enough but I'll let OC decide on that (sent pictures of cabinet).

Below is the build I sent to them for review (I will look into the extra case fan and CPU Cooler you mentioned, I have include my own ones below):
Asus Z170M-Plus Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4 Micro ATX Motherboard
Intel Core i5-6600 3.30GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - Retail

I've hit a brick wall... so I realised that my cabinet is not 39.6cm high. I forgot to measure it from the inside :(. This would mean that I can't use the Silverstone SST-TJ08B-EW Temjin Midi-Tower. The max height the case must be is 24cm, with the depth/width no more than 40cm.

I've reached out to OC and they said I should use the Silverstone SST-ML07B Milo Mini ITX Case. Now the depth and width are similar to the Silverstone SST-TJ08B-EW Temjin Midi-Tower but the height is only 10.5cm, making it perfect for my cabinet.

They also confirmed that it will be compatible with the below parts:
Asus Z170M-Plus Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4 Micro ATX Motherboard
Intel Core i5-6600 3.30GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - Retail
Kingston Fury Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C15 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black
EVGA GeForce GTX 980Ti FTW ACX 2.0+ 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Samsung 250GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache HDD - OEM
be quiet! Straight Power 10 700W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply
Microsoft Windows 10 64-Bit DVD - OEM
Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler

However, I feel that the case won't be cool enough. Am I right? I worry about the damage to the components down the line. What other alternative cases are out there that are in the dimension (40cm x 24cm x 40cm) and offer the best cooling!! I will add all the optional fans that come with a case.

I've looked online and I can see the below are good alternatives, or would the case recommended by OC good enough (Silverstone SST-ML07B Milo Mini ITX Case)?
- Node 304 HTPC Chassis (I think this one?)
- Sugo SG05 HTPC
- Sugo SG08 Case

Thanks!!

You know what? That's perfect :). It would fit with a lot of room as well. The fans are at the front and back, so they won't be blocked. I am guessing the motherboard won't be affected?

Also, can the Asus Z170M-Plus Intel Z170 boot from USB?

Below is my final build, any suggestions? Worth maybe getting the 140mm Magnetic Fan Filter?

Asus Z170M-Plus Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4 Micro ATX Motherboard
Intel Core i5-6600 3.30GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - Retail

be quiet! Straight Power 10 700W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply
Microsoft Windows 10 64-Bit DVD - OEM (MS-KW9-00139)
Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler
NF-F12 IndustrialPPC 2000RPM PWM 120mm High Performance Fan

Thanks!!

Thanks!! I have taken your advice on board. I decided to keep the rear fan as backup. If I needed to turn it off let's say, is there a software to do this (without fan controller or through BIOS)?

Also, going back on laying the PC on it's side - I've checked with OC as well and they too said that there wouldn't be any issues on the components. In fact, since the case has to have the motherboard inverted (design of the case), laying the PC on it's side is more beneficial because it means there is no stress on the heatsink/GPU and other heavy components.

My only question (looking at an example build below) is if heat rises, does laying the PC on it's side make the bottom of the motherboard warmer than usual? Or it doesn't matter as long there is sufficient cooling?

Thanks again, Lee. I didn't understand the part about "You want to keep the Noctua Fan in there as the case doesn't have one fitted at the rear."

Below is the order that I put through to be built. When speaking to OC they suggested the "Akasa AK-FN062 Apache Black Super Silent 140mm Fan" as the rear fan. Is this wrong?

Silverstone SST-TJ08B-EW Temjin Midi-Tower - Black Window
Akasa AK-FN062 Apache Black Super Silent 140mm Fan
Asus Z170M-Plus Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4 Micro ATX Motherboard
Intel Core i5-6600K 3.9GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151 Processor
Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler
Kingston Fury Black 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C15 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black
EVGA GeForce GTX 980Ti Superclocked ACX 2.0+ 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Samsung 250GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache HDD - OEM
EVGA Supernova P2 750W '80 Plus Platinum' Modular Power Supply
TP-Link 450Mbps Wireless N Dual Band PCI Express Adapter
Microsoft Windows 10 32/64-Bit - USB Pen Drive

Also (I know I am bad at keeping all my questions in one post), is it worth my asking OC to remove the drive cages on the ones that are not being used for improved air flow?
