Hi all,

So a couple of days ago i bought the 27" 2560x1440 DGM monitor that was on today only. I wanted to try an IPS panel because i wanted to improve the colours and blacks of my 4 year old 24" LG. Apart from the slightly flimsy stand, the monitor seems great. I do have a slight gripe with the shiny screen though. I'd much prefer it to be matt so that i dont get reflections of lights/myself etc. Is there a monitor that is similar to this but with a matt screen?

I also had a dell U2412M delivered today, just to compare the colour depth and contrast to the DGM monitor. On the colour it seems quite good, but the depth in the blacks on the DGM monitor is not quite there imo. The price of the smaller dell is good, and the quality is superb, but having now used a 27" for a week or so, i love the size.

In my ideal world i would love to be able to get the DGM monitor with a matt screen for about the same price, if not, im going to have a breakdown trying to decide between these two monitors. I cant keep both.

What would you choose or recommend?

Thanks

have you messed around with the colour settings etc on the DGM or are you using factory defaults?

I found with a little bit of tweaking the depth of blacks etc greatly improved. A guy in the original DGM thread posted some settings that he found using a high end calibrator. Obviously every screen varies but i found it much better than default.

I gave in with the default stand an eventually bought the hazro EM31222 replacement stand which is pretty solid but still overpriced imo.

I couldn't go back to a 24" 1080 screen now, i would be very surprised if you could too!

If im honest, no i haven't changed anything, would certainly be worth doing so.

I went to look at the DGM thread with the original deal, couldn't see the settings. Could you link me to what you saw? Thanks.

The dell is a 1200 screen, but certainly agree on going back. I love the size.

This was the post:

rgb after calibration for me was
red - 75
green - 67
blue - 53

brightness - 68
contrast - 89

I use very similar settings to this except i turned the brightness down further as it was making my eyes water!

I was much happier with the colour setup after this :)
