Lappy is badly infected with viruses cannot access my documents to burn to cd not visible in start menu need to recover these can anyone help please

Do you mean the My Documents shortcut has simply disappeared from the Start Menu? Is it no longer visible on the Desktop? Can't you access them via My Computer > My Documents?

Try holding the Windows key and pressing R. Type in "My Documents" and press enter. Did that work? If not you may have to burn it with fire

Could try in safe mode, move them to another folder then restart in to normal windows.

Have you not run a scan?

I'm assuming you are online on this pc, you could try an online scan at trend or another site.

Sorry rainmaker. In a bit of a flap at the moment and yes my documents has disappeared from the start menu. My computer and control panel have also disappeared. Did what you said and have got on to my documents.I am running AVG 7.5 free edition at the moment , going to burn important files to cd and then do fresh install of windows xp and instal kaspersky THANKYOU
