Sorry just a quick Q. I'm building my system atm, and not sure what to do about the power supply, i have an abit ip35 pro mobo and i'm fitting an 8800gtx card in.
Now there is a power supply to the card but also one to the board for the pci-e, do i fit both?

Thanks

Hi,

If it's like my abit boards then the PCI-E connector on the mainboard takes a molex and provides additional stability for the PCI-E voltage fed through the PCI-E slot however this is limited to 75W so the rest of the power needs to come from the PCI-E power plugs on the GTX.

There should be two and you need to connect them both. It's advised to connect the ABIT PCI-E connector as well.

Just don't confuse the 8pin ATX +12v cable for the 8pin PCI-E cable, they are not interchangable and can be forced into the wrong socket a little too easily
