Need help - SLI setup

I've just built a machine with 2 x 8800 Ultras (on an Asus Striker Extreme MB) with XP Pro SP2.

I've installed Forceware 169.21 drivers but couldn't see any options for SLI. I checked device manager and under Display adapters only 1 card was showing.

I just got off the phone to OcUK tech support who advise that only one card will be shown in the device manager/Display adapters but both will be shown on the Nvidia panel with an option to enable SLI somewhere.

I don't know my way around the new Nvidia Control panel at all (seems more confusing than the old one), but I've searched and can see no reference to SLI.

Can someone point me in the right direction or give me an 'idiots guide' to setting it up as I've no idea whether it is working or not :(

Thanks

Jase

- Adjust image settings with Preview
- Manage 3D Settings
- Monitor temperature levels

- Display
etc

Well for a start, you WILL see 2 cards in device manager when its set up correctly

Are you using the 2 slots furhest apart?

Easiest way to tell is to install an non qualified driver and it will ask you twice to confirm the driver install, once for each card, if it only asks once its only picking one card up

EDIT : Also if both cards are correctly detected at driver install stage then you should get a message saying SLI capable system detected.

What PSU are you using?

In the new style control panel select "Set multi-GPU Acceleration" from the left hand navigation list and change to mutli-GPU mode...

You should still see 2 graphics adapters tho in the hardware devices list.

The cards were in the two blue PCI-E slots, the ones furthest apart. I've just moved one to the slot closest to the main one though to try but still the same.

I'm using a Coolermaster Real Power 1000w Modular Power Supply

I dont see the option "Set multi-GPU Acceleration" in the list :(

I thought it was strange that only 1 card was showing in the Device Manager but I was told it definetly only appears as one by Tech support.

Is there anything in the BIOS or MB I should be checking ? I had a look in the BIOS and couldn't see anything. I checked PCI-Express Broadcast Aperture to "Auto" was set as I read somewhere.

Thanks in advance for the help

Working !!!

No idea how, I just swapped the cards around and fine.. maybe wasn't sat properly or something... cheers !
