Need help wiring in an electric cooker!

What sorts of things would happen if the cookers were wired up incorrectly, assuming that the property already had a modern consumer unit with circuit breakers.

The cookers are surrounded by insulation & foil inside and I've seen many cookers catch fire has the circuit breaker goes off.
Last year my mate spotted that a wrong size cable was being fitted to a dual oven cooker but our bosses told us to let them go.
About 2000 were sent out when one was fried in our lab.

You've probably noticed that nearly all electrical equipment comes with a sealed plug.
This is due in part to a mate of mine who had no idea how to wire a plug.
He had wired about 5000 plugs but he'd never been told how to do it.
He thought you could put the wires in any of the 3 holes
There was a such a panic that it helped spark a Govt debate and companies had to fit sealed plugs with access to a fuse.

Before 2006 we could all do this :

Man Stimulating Wife With Electric Cord During Sex Kills Her

Pennsylvania: York County resident Toby Taylor, 37, is being charged with endangerment and involuntary manslaughter after electrocuting his wife Wednesday night as a way to stimulate her during what authorities call a case of "bizarre sex."

Kirsten Taylor died at York Hospital after being found unconscious at their home in Lower Windsor Township. Documents from authorities say Toby first said a hair dryer shocked her but later changed his story when he was told Kirsten's body had burns.

That is when he admitted to plugging an electric cord that was clipped to her body into an outlet 3-4 times. "Even if you did it before, you have to know you could kill someone," said Coroner Barry Bloss. His bail has been set at $100,000.
