Hi all,

I have a little problem.

I am currently building my very 1st pc. I have installed all the components, then connected the power supply and all the components started up and ran fine.

So i thought ok lets attached the monitor, keyboard and mouse and start installing OS and drivers.

However I can find no place on the back panel to put the Monitor cable in ?

Can somebody please explain how I could get a picture on the screen please.

The mobo is the Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R

Your help in this is much appreciated

I have brought the Sapphire 512mb X1950 pro but do you not have to install the drivers on the graphics card before you can view the screen?

so do i put the wack the CD that came with the motherboard or put the VISTA cd in when I boot ?

Oh and cheers for the super quick replies everyone.

i have booted with Vista cd in and still no picture, I have checked and the graphics card is seated correctly.

What would I be doing wrong?

All additional power cable are connected and the fan on the graphics is spinning?

Stickroad, When i turn on the PC all the fans start spinning all LED's come on but nothing on the screen

I will clear the CMOS now and report back

Make sure you have connected the 12v 4pin that comes out of the PSU to the motherboard?

I have checked and it is correctly fitted. The CPU fan is spinngin so the motherbaord must be getting power.

With the cable that connects the graphics to the PSU, I connected the spare connector to a fan and the fan does not work? Would it be a faulty connection? If so why does the fan on the graphics card spin?

I have also cleared the CMOS on the board but still no picture?

yep

edit: actually no. ther was a 6pin connector i think for the grahics card and 2 regular ones coming off that. I connected one of these regular ones to the a cable out of the PSU and the other one was spare.

The spare one was the one I connected to the fan.

negative on the beepy beep side.

BUT.

YYYYYYIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

We have picture on screen. It was a duff cable. I changed the cable to the PSU's PCI-E connector and we are up and running.

Also found out that when the PCI-E isnt plugged into the Graphics card the fan still spins. Must get some power through the slot.

Newayz I thank all of you who have helped and especially Benjarghmin. You sir have saved me from throwing this £700 rig up the wall in frustration.
