Hi all,

I have a little problem.

I am currently building my very 1st pc. I have installed all the components, then connected the power supply and all the components started up and ran fine.

So i thought ok lets attached the monitor, keyboard and mouse and start installing OS and drivers.

However I can find no place on the back panel to put the Monitor cable in ?

Can somebody please explain how I could get a picture on the screen please.

The mobo is the Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R

Your help in this is much appreciated

As far as I am aware, the DS3's do not come with onboard VGA.

You will need to purchase a seperate Graphics Card.

I have brought the Sapphire 512mb X1950 pro but do you not have to install the drivers on the graphics card before you can view the screen?

Nope, it'll boot up with Windows' VGA drivers.

No

You install the Graphics Card in the PCI-E Slot and power up the PC with the Windows CD in the Drive. Make sure that the bios is set to boot from CD.

After you install Windows, you will then be able to install the latest catalyst drivers and away you go :)

so do i put the wack the CD that came with the motherboard or put the VISTA cd in when I boot ?

Oh and cheers for the super quick replies everyone.

Just have the windows cd in first and do the install. After that, then put the mobo disc in and install all the drivers.

i have booted with Vista cd in and still no picture, I have checked and the graphics card is seated correctly.

What would I be doing wrong?

Well, if the graphics card is seated correctly, did you plug in it's power? Most take additional power from the PSU rather than just the PCI-e slot. If not, check physical connections (monitor and video card) and return with the news :)

The screen you will need is to change the boot order to allow it to boot from CD.
The vista CD is not really an issue yet.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS and the booting to see if you can at least get into the BIOS (BIOS screen)

You do have all the power leads connected dont you?
The graphics card has some on as well.

When you turn on the pc what happens and what do you see on the screen?

Dont worry about installing a O/S at this point.

He just said he has no video. Don't confuse the poor bloke.
