Hi, I was about to order the seagate 500gb ST3500320AS with 32mb cache. But then Iread that they are braking and faulty :(
So I was wondering what other hard drives at 500gb can I buy? I coudln't find any good ones and I don't want to get a hard drive that will brake.

Also I am wanting to put 2 HDD in my new machine. I am thinking about having one for the OS and one for programs/storage. Is this a good idea? or should I install programs on the same HDD as the OS and just use the other HDD for storage? I was thinking 320gb for one with OS and 500gb for storage one?

Any help appreciated, as I never built machine with multiple HDD before! :)

I've been using Samsung F1s for the last few hard drives I've bought, and haven't had one die yet. I'd take a lot of the horror stories you hear with a pinch of salt, because they're almost always the exception, not the rule.

Having a whole hard drive for the OS, and another one for programs is a bit like overkill. Even Vista, the bloatiest OS out there, weighs in at under 15gig if you're putting all your programs elsewhere. If you want to separate them for whatever reason, keep them both on the same drive but in different partitions.
Use the second drive for storage and other stuff like that. You might also want to backup some of the data from your first hard drive onto the second, so that if it does break, you don't lose any important data.
