hi all ill start by wishing you all a happy new year. basically im after a 22" monitor mainly for gaming but also with the option of using with my ps3. ive heard a lot of good things about the led monitors so would like 1 of those unless there are any reasons not to. so basically i need a 22" maby a 24" depending on cost my main problem is the price i only have about £170 to spend hope you guys can give me a few suggestions as all i have done is confused myself while looking through the vast models available.

It isn't your fault your confused - you've been churned up by the marketing machine. First thing that will make your job a lot easier is to forget everything you may think you know about 'LED'. It's just the type of lights behind the monitor that is used instead of a different type of light. Whilst some monitors using LED backlighting are indeed good monitors, some are poor - the image quality actually has very little to do with the backlighting type at the budget you're considering. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18191844&highlight=B2430+username_pcm2

If you have a £170 budget you could go for a Samsung P2450H or B2430H. They generally exceed others in their price class for both image and build quality. If you are adamant to go for an LED-backlit model due to energy efficiency or thin-panel reasons I would recommend either trying to bump up your budget and plump for the BX2450 or having a think about the BX2250 as an alternative (a bit overpriced for a 22 inch non-professional model though). ViewSonic have some excellent LED-backlit models such as the VX2250WM and VX2450WM. They have quite a following and a lot of positive feedback in the US but don't seem so popular/well known over here. The BenQ G2222HDL is also pretty good for the price but it isn't is well below your budget, is not very thin and can't match the other models mentioned.

They don't have HDMI ports I'm afraid. When I start recommending monitors to people I always end up forgetting whether they've specified that they want to use it with a console. :p

lol no worries mate im still a little confused tho so im im better of goin for a better non led screen if thats the case than scrap the led idea lol

I don't see any reason you'd want to go for that over the LG W2261V unless you specifically want the power efficiency/thin panel that you get with that LED monitor.

It has a higher latency and a worse brightness than the cheaper LGW2261V that's on this week only.
