my son has £700-£800

he needs a new pc as his old one is slow

he has a keyboard, mouse, a monitor (1920x1080) and windows 7 already

as i was just going to sell the old pc i didnt want to take anything out of the system box unless it was really needed

as Ive not built a pc for years Im a bit unsure about doing it especially as I need it for xmas
so what he needs the system box I would prefer it to be already built with no hassle but i can build it if there is a huge difference in components /price

I would like intel processor but i will take amd if performance price is a lot better
i also would like it quiet or as quiet as our budget would allow
its main use will be games

thx

Intel is the way to go and Z97 is suppose to support Broadwell CPU's also.

You're right about not retaining any of the old parts - pretty much everything will be too slow... maybe keep the DVD drive if you want one I guess.

im pretty sure i can find another £15 for a dvd drive

I would like to say thank you so far but i have one more question

As this is a xmas present i kinda wanted a case which was a bit more wow factor as his old pc is in a coolmaster plain black case (and i wanted somthing which looked very different )any ideas if i spent another £30 on the case what would be a good case

this isnt exactly like his old case but its close http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-197-CM&groupid=2362&catid=29 you can see they almost look similar

Got to be one of these - the 230T comes in a couple of different colours
You could look on the OcUK site yourself and have a look at the range of cases at what price you're willing to pay, and then post here and someone can check if it's decent or not :)

So go for it.

There's now some b-grade bargains, eg

YOUR BASKET
1 x **B Grade** Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X Rev2.0 WindForce 3X OC 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with Battlefie (GX-122-GI) £129.95
Total : £139.55 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Faster & cheaper so you could go for that and save money/get better performance
You'll need to take a HDD cage out to fit this GPU but it will still fit and you'll have enough space for a HDD and SSD

Scratch that, sorry thought it was the £700 ish one, I agree with stulid, go for it :)
