I have built a few atx machines a couple of years ago. I stopped gaming so I have not got myself up to date with all the hardware stuff :\ I am thinking of build a small pc just for counter-strike: global offensive (half life 2 : portal 2 engine).

CPU : intel i5 2300
RAM: 4G x 2 1600mhz
HD : WD black 750gb

which case? which motherboard? which psu? -_-
thanks guys

Hello and welcome to OcUK forums :)

What's your budget, are you planning on using an onboard GPU or dedicated and if so do you have any ideas on that? Also do you have any preference in shape - HTPC, box or just as small as possible or as silent as possible?

Will you be wanting to play other games? Or just CS:GO? I am sure the requirements for CS:GO wont be that strenuous and should be easily playable on your existing machines.

And all the questions that Guardsmon asked too.

I would like to have all the components in a cubic shaped case if the graphics card can fit in :) I'm thinking of using an ATI 6950 but I'm not sure if it is too long and generates too much heat.
Yes the machine is just built for cs:go and cs:promod!
I think my current desktop is too old for half life 2 games as I want a consistently high fps. It has E5200, 2G ddr2-800, GF6800GS (256/256), antec 300 case, antec truepower 500w.
Silverstone SG01/02 look fantastic but I have no idea about what components can fit in -_-

Why not go for something a bit less meaty, like a GTX 560 or an HD 6870 in a Sugo Sg05 ITX rig, can be found for around £90 with a 450w PSU. Couple that with a cheap Asus H61 ITX board (circa £60), H61 is fine as you don't have a K series CPU, or for £80 the Gigabyte H67 bord is quality. That would give you a very nice, yet compact gaming rig.

Totally agree with this. The 560 and 6870 are nice cool, low power consumption cards so perfect for in a tiny case like the SG05/06-450. Grab a Gigabyte H67 and 8GB of RAM (its so cheap atm there is no reason not to). Put an i5 in there and away you go.
