Need help with an upgrade from a X800XL

Hi guys,

I want to upgrade my graphics card from a ASUS ATi X800XL 256MB GDDR3 for something better. I've been having a look at the website and I have put my eyes on two of them:

PowerColor ATI Radeon X1950 Pro Extreme SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR3 VIVO HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-065-PC) (£187.99 Including VAT at 17.5%)

or

OcUK MSI GeForce 7900 GTO SILENT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-041-OK) £180

So, which one would you get? The rest of my rig is : Athlon X2 4800+ S939, 2GB DDR400 Corsair Value, MSI Neo4 (NForce4 Ultra), 19" Samsung TFT Monitor.

Hi again!

Well, I posted my specs before, but here they are again:

Athlon X2 4800+ S939, 2GB DDR400 Corsair Value, MSI Neo4 (NForce4 Ultra), 19" Samsung TFT Monitor.

As you can imagine is PCI Express and its only for playing at 1280x1024.

Anyway thanks for the help. Seems that the 7900GTO is faster than the X1950 Pro for what you are saying!

Well, I want something future proof (or at least 3 month future proof!! ) as I am planning to get Supremme Comander and thats why I am upgrading

I could also wait until the game comes out and then buy. But waiting is a thing I do not do well.

what a bugger!

I have just discovered thos ATI X1900XTX 512 on the clearance section for £205 ... Are they really that noisy? I am worried because the fan on my good ol' X800XL was very noisy!

So, what do you recommend? nVidia 7900GTO or ATi X1900XTX 512?

Woah ...

A friend of mine has told me that the IQ of the ATi cards is much better than nVIDIA and that I will notice the difference from my X800XL to the 7900GTO.

Is it really that bad?

Do you know any websites that do IQ reviews between ATi and Nvidia?

I have always been very please with ATi IQ quality but then again the graphics cards I have had in the past have been a little bit wierd :

GeForce 420 Go from my laptop
Kyro II 64 MB
S3 Savage 2000 32 MB
Intel I740 8 MB
