Need help with building own system!

That's a decent spec m8, but i wouldn't bother with the 'guaranteed to clock at' processors, even the badly clocking Q6600s (Admittedly the one i got was relatively good) will run at 3.3ghz. The freezer 7 pro is a good cooler, but for a Q6600 running over 3ghz will strain it slightly, and at full the fan sounds like there's a cat stuck in it. I'm not a massive expert on CPU coolers though, anyone care to recommend one? I use a Coolermaster Hyper 212, which is a good cooler, but is *massive*

*edit* The 900 would fit it easily, but the twelve-hundred is a beast of a case. Also, the 900s have a reputation for being a bit of a dust catcher. If you get the 900, get a few pairs of tights at the same time =)

Yeh I agree with mojo, no need to get the 'guaranteed to clock' one, they're all the same. The 900 is a popular case, but I think the 1200 would be better as there will be more room inside, and it looks better :p. If you want a better CPU cooler have a loot at the Tuniq Tower or the Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme. However, i've just noticed that the prices for these have gone through the roof! 60 flamin quid. A zalman 9700 would be good also.

Other than that the spec looks great

hi again he doen't get what you mean about the guareenteed to clock one, do you mean change the q6600?? or do you mean q6700?

what exactly would you change in the new system that he has put up :)

thanks and sorry for bein a pain :P

do you mean go with this one - Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail

Looking good, but quad aint exactly "better". What you using it for? Gaming? If so a good duo (E8400 or highter) is probably better.

Here you go :)
Both of them are exactly the same, no need to pay extra for a 'guarantee'

Omelette!! hehe

I know you suggested an E8500, but he said he wanted a quad because he thinks it is "better" - which it isnt for gaming - thought someone would have pointed out to him that if its a gaming PC he wants an E8*** cpu; no one has done this.

Hi all i thought i'd post in my wife's account to save her from doing so,Firstly i would just like to thank everyone for the help it is very much appreciated :). Now i have taken everything onboard what everyone has said and i have come up with this :

before i go and buy the parts, can i just confirm that everything that have picked in the list will all work together lol:P.(i.e ram,mobo,g-card,processor e.t.c..)

If so then i have one final thing to pick.... a fan or two.
I'm still not 100% on what to go with!!!
