Hey
I have two internal hardrives, a 320gig (C) and an 80gig (D).
Suddenly i started getting the following error message:
"Windows was unable to save all the data for file D:/<file name here>. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere."
And everytime i turned my pc on, during the start up a blue screen came up which said
"Checking File System on D
The type is NTSF
One of your drives needs to be checked for consistency, you may cancel this check but is it is strongly recommended"
I was going to reformat my pc so this error gave me further reason to do so, i saved any files i wanted to save on an external hardrive.
I reformatted the 320gig and deleted the partition in the 80gig, Once I had got the pc working again after installing drivers, programs etc I started putting all the files i saved back on.
It was all working fine, then when I put more data on the D drive the error message came back nd it asked to do the check every time i turned my pc on, but if i allowed it to do the check i would not be able to access the D Drive once logged in so i kept cancelling it.
Therefore I gathered that this error was occuring because i was putting too much information on the D Drive, so I started deleting files I didnt need because trying to transfer them to the C drive was incredibly slow and even deleting them took a very long time as my pc has started running really slow.
This made the pc faster but did not solve the problem, so i felt i was forced to delete some stuff i wanted to keep. I did so but then when I restarted my pc I could not access the D drive whether i cancelled the check or not and have tried turning off my computer and turning it back on many times but I still cant access the D Drive it just says "could not be found, right click properties and check the location is correct"
So I feel now that my only option is to delete the partition and then make sure in future that I do not put too much information on the D Drive but then I will lose files on the D Drive that I have put on since reformatting which I really do not want to lose.
So i was wondering if anybody has any suggestions as to how I can fix this problem without losing the information on the D Drive or if there is a another reason why my D Drive is giving me problems other than the reason I have come to assume. Ive tried researching about this error but the solutions to the problem rather dont apply to me or have not worked.
Cheers. Ash.
