Righty, I've put together my first PC, but I cant get it to work...
When I press the power up switch, the case fans come on, a light comes on on the Video card, but the Heatsini fan does not come on, nor does the graphics card fan (maybe they're not meant to until things get warm, I dunno).
I get no picture on my monitor.

Oh, and for what its worth I can open/close the optical drives.

The CPU fan and graphics card ones should power up instantly.

Make sure you have the CPU cooler plugged into the CPU_FAN and not a SYSTEM_FAN pin, or the equivalent.

What vid card and psu are you using?

Have you got all the power plugged in from you psu? Did you fit the lifters for the mobo so its not shorting on case?

hmm pritty stuck for ideas though. dose it beep at your when you try to boot up? if so how many times? do u have a LED status on your mobo, if so what it say - check your user manual if u do for what each code means?

Everything I bought is in that link I posted
The cooler is definately plugged in to the right power connector (the other options are either a pin short or require an insanely long cable to reach, and I checked the manual again to be sure).
Im getting kinda worried that the motherboard is dead, that would mean I need to take the whole lot apart :'( took me all day...
That said, the graphics card lights are coming on, I dont know if that is a good sign or not :P

No beeps on boot up at all

I think so, although I do have a cable that I dont know what to do with.
Ive got a 20pin + 4 pin adapter that clip together and go into the 24 pin power socket.
I then have a 2x2 and a 2x4 plug. The 2x2 is in the other power socket near the CPU, but that socket has a cover over it that would make it a 2x4 socket. THe 2x4 plug I have is currently loose.

Just a thought, my graphics card has no power cable. I dont know if it needs one or not (stupid generic manuals) but no lead was supplied with the card. It does have what looks like a power connector on the back.

If it's a six pin one then it needs its own PCI-express power cable I'm sure. Some power does come from the actual PCI-E slot, that's why the LEDs are on but it may need it's own power.

The manual said that the cards that need power come with a cable, mine didnt. I have a cable that would do it (came with the PSU) and the cable fits, I just dont want to melt anything by sticking power in where power is not wanted...

...and to add to the fun, Ive now lost my screwdriver! ..whee.. Its going to be one of those days, isnt it?

Might have been *a* problem, but its not *the* problem, still no luck :/

Time to use the other 4 pins of the 4 pin connector (making it 2x4 as seems to be an option)?

Sorry to post so often in succssion, but im getting frustrated.
There is a molenex type connector on the motherboard, says its for the PCI-E slot, i figured it was an output for a power lead to the graphics card and have left it unused. On investigation, it looks more like an input, should this be getting power?

How many connections have you actually made to the motherboard through the PSU. If you're using a dual core CPU then I'm pretty sure you need 2 different ones. A 24 or 20 one and a 4 or 8 one.

Ive got a 24 pin one and an 8 pin one (was 4, i took off the cover on the other half and used the cable my PSU supplied to extend the 2x2 into a 4x2).
Not working, but I notice this molenex connector thing on the motherboard, and the manual says its for extra power for the PCI-E slots, I have nothing there, perhaps I should (still dont want to blow the thing up though so I havent tried).

Do it!!!! Actually, I'm not totally sure. Hopefully there should be someone out there with the same mobo as you. Other then that I'm stumped

Well I pulled the PCI-E card out, and now I get the mobo beeping at me. Long-short-short, Graphics card error. Figures, cause thats what I took out (still no fan movement, but maybe thats to be expected given that the thing gave an error mesage and shut off).

EDIT: actually, the CPU fan is twitching, moving a few degrees, then moving back
