This is my list so far
Case : Fractal Design Define R3 Black Pearl Gaming Midi Tower Case

PSU : 1050W Corsair HX Series Modular ATX 2.3 SLI/Crossfire Compliant Power Supply

MOBO : ASUS P8Z68-V PRO Intel Z68 (REV B3) Socket 1155 DDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card

CPU : Intel Core i5-2500k 3.3GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail

GPU : Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6990 4096MB GDDR5 PCI- Express Graphics Card

RAM : Corsair Dominator GT 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-17200C9 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit with DHX Airflow Fan

HDD : 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 3.5" SATA III Hard Drive

Cooler : Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator and Fan CPU Cooler

Cost comes to £1414.89 which is a bit over my budget (£1500) since i want to get windows and other stuff required to build my pc + a good IPS monitor (21"+). Any advice on how to reduce costs without reducing performance would be awesome. I'd prefer not to change my GPU but i'm open to suggestions. My pc would be for gaming (high/max settings).

Could you please tell me the difference between 32mb and 64 mb in HDD.
I'm guessing RPM is read times or something? What's the difference between Sata, Sata II and Sata III?
Thanks a lot.

32mb and 64mc is cache where the hard drive stores data ready to be read and sata 1 2 and 3 are diffrent speeds at which data can be transfered , 1.5gb/s, 3gb/s and 6gb/s respectively.

The 32MB/64MB is a small lump of RAM on the drive to act as a cache.

The RPM and seek time affect the speed/access time accordingly, the higher the RPM and the lower the seek time the better.

SATA/II/III is the interface on the drive and the motherboard, a mechanical harddrive cant even saturate a SATAII (3GB/s) interface so the SATAIII (6GB/s)interface they come with is pointless/marketing gimmick.

Only a SSD needs a SATAIII (6GB/s) interface.

Why's there a 20 quid difference between G.Skill and kingston at the same timings? Brand power or quality? it's just that i had problems with my earlier set of kingston ram, just want to get it clairified so i can buy without doubts. thanks :)

There isnt, the RipjawC9 is £29.99 (your last link)

The kingston is on a weekly offer at £23.99

If i crossfire two 6970's, would they perform better than the 6990 on a single monitor? If yes, that'd be fantastic. The reason i went for 6990 mainly was that i can crossfire 2 of them in the future if that's possible. I just went for the 6990 since i read up that it's the best GPU in the market at the moment and since i'm building the best gaming machine possible for my budget i went with it.

Two 6990 for a single screen is massively overkill, even a single 6990 sounds OTT.

How about buying a single 6970, keeping the rest of the money in your pocket and either buying a second 6970 later next year when they drop in price when the 7 series cards are released. Or selling the single 6970 and buying the latest and greatest card when its released.

i wouldn't mind it as long as a single 6970 suffice to play any game on high/max settings. My budget is somewhere between £1-1.5k. If you have any ideas about changing any other spec as well, please lemme know. I'm totally clueless about parts, just reading up lots of build ideas and making my list. I'll never use more than a single screen for gaming anyway.
