If that system drive has operating system in its own partition with games and your own data in other you could just format that OS partition.
This big hardware change without clean OS install would have problem chances.
If you don't have install disk Win7 image is easy to download.

Thanks for the Reply the Operating system is in my Programs partition so has everything like games,Software etc. I do have the Install disc just wondering if i would need a new Product code or not also will be getting a M.2 drive but that wont be till next year just want it to work without losing all my Data.

You can't install anything other than Windows 10 on Ryzen/Kabylake and later.

You can install it - it just might not be a trouble free process (i.e. messing about with USB support) and then there is the whole deal with Windows update - which can be worked around.

Just wondering budget wise im gonna be pretty Stretched with the above system without having to fork out for a windows 10 64-bit :( already spent around 400 on Upgrades over the last few years like my new Power supply hard drive and extra ram not to mention the amount done to the case with mods/cable braiding/fans etc

Yea only been using this System for last 11 months or so was away for 2 years. Was thinking i could drop the 360mm AIO atm and get a bracket to use my H50 on the AM4 socket that would save me a good chunck of money then could get a M.2 Drive and windows 10? Anyone know about these Windows 10 you can download over the Internet for like 30 quid are Legit?

You can still activate windows 10 with a win 7 key afaik; just download the installer!

If you turn off cortana and any other *noisy* features of windows 10, it's really very similar to windows 7!

It will probably trigger the OS activation since your hardware is totally different but that is an easy automated phone call or 15 min 'e support' chat; you can't continue to use windows 7 on the old hardware (obviously)!

So--What do you suggest for those who do NOT want Windows 10. (like myself) I got Win10 Pro on an older PC and HATE it. At each update it gets worse.
I'm thinking of upgrading in next few years or earlier. So, what motherboard and processor do you recommend for Win 7. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! I do NOT want to know about Win10.
I use Win7 on my self build n happy with it. No Hand has jumped out to pull me in yet :) :) THANKS.

This is simply not sustainable. If you detest Win10 so much, try Ubuntu.

Have you tried crippling, gagging Cortana, all the MS privacy crap, targets ads, tiles, etc etc?

It's a great OS once optimised for the way you want to use it.

try Ubuntu.

A great pen drive OS for checking friends computers :D

Although, i like using it on older laptops as it's so quick...

After you've spent hours basically turning it into Windows 7 only not quite managing to look as good? and then all undone next time you update to a new feature build.

I think my gagging techniques are slightly quicker than yours (without sounding like a sociopath) - but agreed about the irritation with large updates (and 10 in general as a 'whole' package). :)

Trouble is it's the only solution for the OP if he wants a similar 7 experience with new CPUs.

My hope is that MS may eventually bow slightly to user opinion/feedback - but then i may also spontaneously sprout wings and fly.

It sucks coz the underlying Kernel aside from being forced onto it for newer CPU support is reasonably more stable and better for multi-threading/cores than Windows 7 and the start menu properly done has a lot of potential for advances over 7. But MS seems to have lost sight of the fact that an OS is supposed to enable the user.

Amen to that.

Apologies and embarrassment, if i came across as 10 zealot - believe me i'm not. All my laptops were crippled by the Creator update and i've been second guessing 'form member's' hardware issues, since its release, as it's caused numerous ambiguous problems that have simulated hardware issues (as i'm sure you're well aware).

It's the manner in which MS thrust their interpretation of 'best user experience' on the user - and then actively ignore all the negative feedback.

I've disabled updates for now - and agree again it's a PITA. Trouble is they've built a monster for the masses and forgot to adapt it for the ones that want to use it solely as a streamlined interface, with as little interference as possible...

I miss DOS!
