Need help with new Motherboard and Windows 7?

There are going to be people Windows 10 is perfect for and I'm not knocking that but overall as an OS it poorly caters for people that don't closely match two idealistic models of the "average" consumer and the "average" enterprise user :s

Creator's update hasn't worked well on either of my Windows 10 tablets - still some stuff not working properly like software installations randomly just stalling for about an hour before completing for no apparent reason.

It's an odd model/ethos they've adopted - and the passive aggressive nature in which it was forced on the user hasn't helped endear themselves to their users. Have a free upgrade from 7/8.1 - oh, and if you don't, we'll stop supporting any new architecture you choose to adopt here-on-after. Add, the deliberate 'per-longed' ambiguity over whether you would be able to swap the licence over to a new system if you upgraded and MS have pretty much alienated most of the more 'considered' users. Especially given your apt description of how it fails to cater for anything other than their narrow interpretation of the stereotypical user...

Or, perhaps we're getting old Rroff - or, paradoxically, not old enough. I have have parents who couldn't be happier with receiving a new OS for gratis coupled with a son that visits periodically to sort it out. And i have an adolescent nephew who thinks it 'rocks!' - he uses all the crap that I remove...

...perhaps it's moved on without us :)

I don't believe this either...

My dad has a love hate relationship with it - loves that it does a lot of stuff for him but a few times been caught out when he has been working, gone off to make a cup of tea and come back to find his laptop has launched into Windows update - especially when hes been rushing to make a deadline that has caused some totally unnecessary stress.

Your Dad sounds far more tech savvy than mine (no disrespect Dad) - but then i was taking apart zx81's when i was allowed to hold a screwdriver so they've never had to worry about learning anything remotely technical as it's not interested them nor have they had the need to learn. Something i 'really' regret in hindsight.

And, ironically, my young son has just come down asking what's wrong with his computer as it's ground to a halt. Guess...

Hah despite heading up the technical division at work his tech savvy is so-so my mum has much more natural ability with PCs which I guess is where I got it from.

Using that reasoning - I think i've yet to be told i'm adopted... :)
