Not sure if correct place to post so sorry if it is wrong.

I just finished building my PC however I didn't buy an OS due to funds, I was wondering if I could use Linux until I acquire Windows? I downloaded Linuxmint 11 and used Unetbootin to turn my USB into a bootable drive, however I am stuck from here - When I press F12 to go to boot menu I don't know what to do.

You could also download Windows 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation - gets you three months of free Windows.

There should be a 'boot priority' list in your BIOS. Bump the USB up to #1 and your PC will boot from there.

There's a Linux sub forum if you need further help.

If you will have funds in the next few months you can install Windows 7 without a key and use for up to 180 days IIRC. Once you have the money just enter the key to activate.

The problem is I've lost my large USB  Only have a 1GB which is why I chose Linux, however I shall try the boot priority now, thanks.

Does anybody know if I could perhaps use my phone as a boot drive? Im not sure if that is even possible but it has enough storage space for me to import the Windows 7/8 boot.

You'd wipe everything from your phone in the process, so I wouldn't. 8gb USBs can be bought for under £10 these days.

Have you got the Linux one working?

I've used an SD card in my phone as a boot device, alongside this I had used my digital camera.
