Need help with sony vegas and video editing!

Hey guys, right I have a question,

I want to create a video of a impossible lap time on this racing game to annoy my buddy whos obsessed with hotlapping.

I have a recording of in game, and iv recorded a lap of driving a track, then iv gone to a different track, and iv recorded a lap so that the lap time box in the top right shows a completed lap that's faster than iv done on the other video, and I want to overlay that box on the other video, then speed up the video if that makes sense?

So basically I want to speed up video 1, then overlay the laptime box of video 2 into the top right corner.

How will I do this please?

And also, this is purely just so hes like wtf :p I don't have hours to spend hotlapping to perfection haha.
 
It's quite easy and it's very basic stuff so have you even Googled this? All you need do is speed up video 1 (as you've said), and crop video 2. It's barely a couple of clicks.
 
Having had Sony Vegas pro since January... I couldn't tell you!

Have go pro footage from last winter in Val D'isere and still haven't got around to editing it!
So used to Adobe products I don't know whether it's the software I'm finding hard to get used to because video editing is loads more difficult than I imagined.

Photographers have got it easy!
 
In most NLE software, you would place one video track above another, then either use a matte or crop the other video down to show what you want to.

You really need to learn the software, so either follow some tutorials or get a book.
 
make 2 video layers, put video 2 on the top layer, video 1 on the bottom

on the video 2 clip there should be a square crop icon on the far right hand side of it, click it

you'll be presented with a rectangle with a big 'F' inside it, this is your crop area

hold down control and drag one of the corners inwards until the box is small/the size you want, then click and drag the box to the area of the screen you want (the lap time)

To speed up video 1, hold control and click and drag the edge of video 1 clip towards the start
