Ok basically in my Mates house he has Internet but the wireless doesnt reach in his room. So his setup right now is he has an Ethernet going from the router in his room then a Ethernet hub to connect his Xbox and whatnot into so he can use the Internet. Now he would really like wireless in his room so if we swapped the hub with another router, could he use the new routers wireless to receive Internet?

You effectively convert the router into a wireless access point. If you want details Google 'router as access point' and they'll be plenty of guides.
The other option is just to buy a wireless access point.
