need help with upgrade parts for nivida 3d vision setup

hi there guys i have just ordered asus vg27he 3d monitor for my current pc


i need some advise on my current rig in regards to the gpu upgrade and bottlenecks. let me explain.

current config

i have spoken to nvidia they said that the cpu i have should meet their minimum requirements "dual core" and that my current gpu is just about sufficient to run the 3d vision. it says it supports it.


my pc is old i know but i don't have enough money to do full up grade or make one.

but if i could upgrade the gpu what should i get and what psu should i get i think i could fit 11 inch gpu in their.

i think i just need one gpu and not 2 sli them because il have to buy another motherboard which supports sli.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but in realistic terms, you need a new PC.

An older card like a 560ti and a Q6600 might cope on low settinvs. My recommendation would be a 2500K, maybe a 3570K and a 660Ti to appreciate the games.

3D splits the frames, so if a 2D game gets 46 fps, a 3D game will get 23. You save a bit by not using AA but that would maybe bring it to 30fps.

Wouldn't agree more Gregster.

The reason my NVision kit collects dust since 2011 is because the GTX570 even if overclocked, cannot pull enough frame rates (on T1090 @ 4.3Ghz)

And the only 2 games ever played with the 3D are Bad Company 2 (looked stunning though) and CIV 5.
Since then played WOT that doesn't support even SLI.

And is the reason that going to get a 7970 now, making the whole kit obsolete, since I haven't used it for years, and replacement NVidias at this current stage are expensive and kinda pointless compared to AMD products. At least the monitor is nice though

Q6600 and 560TI is ok for L4D source engine type games in 3d

Good news is that board will take most of the s775 Quads, Q6600 is a good deal as it's really easy to hit 3Ghz just by setting the FSB to 1333 from 1066. May not even need a voltage bump, if it does then it's slight.

560TI / 570 is fairly cheap now ...

With a quad and a GPU you should have a reasonable 3D experience..... though it gives me a headache after a while

when u say q6600 you are referring to a cpu for the 775 socket mother board and 560ti/570 gpu.
so these 2 are the things i should upgrade to get better 3d experience.


and what about the psu

i can not build a new rig at once, i can only buy upgrade part like £150 each part or less the tht.

i dont know if its worth it to upgrade the gpu and cpu and psu on the lga775 board if its going to cost same amount of money to make new system.

I know it's slightly over budget, but I think it's worth investing in at least a half decent PSU. It gets you onto a newer socket and although the GPU isn't the fastest in the world it should be a good balance when coupled with the G2120.
Overall a massive upgrade from what you're on at the moment!

Bear in mind though that if you want to play in 3D, even with this setup, you'll be turning down video quality settings quite a bit to maintain any sort of playable fps.

The parts are mostly second hand other than a PSU which the poster about had provided.

Quick Edit ... I'd go for Haswell as it's the latest socket then find a secondhand Nvidia GPU
