I have a MSI B450 Pro Carbon AC mobo with a Ryzen 2600 cpu oc'd to 4.2ghz.

Im trying to set up a virtual machine with linux/ubuntu using VMWare but everytime I go to start the machine, it fails to start and says that AMD-V is disabled in the bios menu. But i dont know where the option is and I cant seem to enable it so it keeps on failing.

If anyone can help me out that would be great.

For a few generations now, hardware has virtualization specific features that can be enabled, but are most often disabled by default. To enable this simply enter the setup upon boot to change the BIOS/UEFI settings. The exact method for getting to the BIOS/UEFI settings will differ on each motherboard, but it'll likely be by repeatedly pressing an F key, ESC or DEL while booting the machine. Intel's is called Intel VT (virtualization technology) and AMD's is as the OP states, AMD-V.

Or you could let us know how for the benefit of everyone searching in the future.

This pretty much explains it. I was looking for the option but it was easy to miss. On my particular motherboard it was under the setting "SVM" and it just had to be enabled and it started working.
