Hi
I need some help.
I have not changed or installed anything but all of a sudden, when I browse the internet, what ever browser I use (Opera, IE, Chrome or Firefox) I get intermittent momentary freezing that can last from a second to about 6 seconds. This can once in a minute or several times a minute.

I have run full anti-virus scan (Bitdefender), CCleaner, malwarebytes.
I have cleared out all caches and deleted any cookies.
I have updated my Ethernet card driver. (Using cable to the router, not wifi).
I have run msconfig and disabled all the rubbish starting up.
I have gone through task manager and I can't see anything running that should not be running.

So far I am stuck.
I do notice the following.
My VM superhub 3 is a bit on the hot side.
I get good upload and download speeds but latency is between 18 and 22 ms.
For some reason my TP-Link wifi extender has stopped picking up signals from the SH3 but
not sure if that is related or not as other devices still do.

Oh I am running Windows 7 64bit.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I would imagine that something which has been installed, be it an update or a driver/program is a tad unhappy. It would be worth running task manager and see if anything is stealing all your resources when the freeze occurs. Otherwise, a clean install.

It's worth booting into a Linux Live environment for testing before condemning the Windows installation.

It's also worth performing a quick clean Windows install on a spare drive if you have one.

Windows 7 takes an age to fully install nowadays with all of the patches that have to go on.

I really can't face a reinstall as I have tweaked so much over the years and I don't remember everything I have done. (Kinda like resetting Han Solo's Millennium Falcon back to Lando's version).
May have to live with it until it either drives me insane or I upgrade to Windows 10 cleanly.
