need help with wireless router.

Hey all, I just set up a another pc downstairs, I have connected it up with a cable directly to the wireless router however I've noticed when I do this the one upstairs won't connect to the router! It's a belkin jobby.

Does the PC that won't connect have a wireless card installed etc?

hey, yeah the one that won't connect has a wireless dongle. I've noticed as soon as i turn on the wired one it knocks the wireless one off straight away!

When you connect using Ethernet, is the wireless facility on your router still enabled?

The wireless light on the front of the router stays lit at all times?

Shouldn't it be lit when the WiFi service is enabled?

hmm it seems to be on now but the one upstairs isn't connecting. It doesn't even find the router on a search?

If you disconnect the physically connected PC then the one upstairs can connect to the wireless network?

If i turn the downstairs one off it will connect so i think so yeah. strange.

nah mate, as soon as the one downstairs get's turned on it knocks mine off. I think i'll just buy another wireless card for the one downstairs.

does the one downstairs work tho?
maybe you've got a duff cable, or maybe theres an issue with that router, what model is it?

Hiya, the one downstairs does work with the cable yeah and the one upstairs did work with the wireless dongle before i introduced the one downstairs!

It's driving me nuts! I've just bought another dongle for the one downstairs and it won't connect with that either. It scans but doesn't find a network. Same with the one upstairs! It's asif the dongle isn't connected but it is! I have to totally turn off the downstairs one before the upstairs one will work.

Is there something I have to do on the router or some other configuration? F5d7633-4 is the model.

having checked up on google I can see 3-4 forums with details off issues (dissconections, crashes) with this model, I've never used this one (I hate Beklin tbh, nothing but issues with them, I've had. )

what are the wireless cards you're using?

there is a firmware update on the belkin site, http://www.belkin.com/support/download/downloaddetails.asp?lang=1&download=1724 (I think that should work/help)

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT IS THE CORRECT FIRMWARE FOR YOUR MODEL!

I think they're USB devices but the OP doesn't specify the make/model.
