hey guys.

i built my new rig on friday asus p8p67 mobo and i7 2600k.

i did the auto oc by pressing asus optimal in the bios, now it oc'ed to 4.4 and all was running fine with temps of max 66 when running prime 95 for 2 hours.

now since doing the auto oc my rig will turn on the all the lights come on for 2 sec then it shuts downs then reboots and goes all the way to the os.

but i just figured that it was setting the oc but ive just come home from work and turnd it on and it started and rebooted 3 times and on the 3rd time i got a a screen that said overclock faild enter boot menu to reconfigure so i did that and tried the auto oc again but it just hung on a black screen with a underscore in the top left corner.

so i went into bios again and loaded defaults and it started but it still did the turn on the reboot again thing but only the once.

how can i resolve this with the auto oc???

and should it be starting then rebooting???

thanks lads...

Overclock it manually, higher clocks at lower volts.

All you need to do is up the multiplier and then adjust the voltage until it's stable.

Its the same as going into the BIOS and hitting "restore system defaults".
But for future reference on your motherboard theres a jumper which you can remove which does this. have a look in your motherboard manual, as it may come in useful @ some point.

so i just did a manual oc.

all i changed was.

ai overclock tuner to manual

turbo ration by all cores change in os and set it to 45.

and cpu voltage to 1.340 .

im running prime95 now and ill leave it going till the morning.

what temps is the highest i should look for and if temps are high how can i bring them down???

As long as it's below 80 you'll be fine, if it runs too hot you can either reduce the clock (or try and run at lower VCore) or get a better cooler.

my pc is still starting then on for a few seconds some times up to 10/15 then it turns off then reboots and goes all the way to os..

any ideas on how to sort this???

i dont know what that is mate???

have i done something wrong???

You've not done anything wrong :)
IBT is Intel Burn Test, it stresses the CPU a lot harder than prime. That's not to say it can replace prime as they do stress in different ways.

What PSU have you got?

Am I right in thinking that once you get into windows you don't get any random reboots?
