A few days ago I noticed that m PC was starting to act strange, my CPU load was going crazy, fluctuating wildly sat at desktop not running any programs. I noticed that anywhere from 10 to 16 "Svchost.exe" files can be running at any time and they are using quiet a lot of memory and loading my CPU.

I've done all the usual things like run virus scans (showed nothing) updated windows, and even put my OC back to stock and it hasn't changed anything, its getting a little annoying now as its even making using programs and playing games hard as unresponsiveness and crashing is becoming more apparent.

any ideas as to what it may be or anything that you can recommend I do??
Any and all help will be appreciated.

This looks useful

It seems to be a windows 7 fault, from what i understand of it.

Let me know if this is simular or if the solution helps.

This looks helpful too..

Had a look at em both and downloaded them, found the files and did what they said and terminated them, but after a reboot it was back again ad all the svchost.exe files are running again. the main culprit seems to be only two of the 16 files.

Name PID Group

Power Power DComLaunch
Plug and Play Plug and Play DComLaunch
Dcom Server Process DCom Server Process Launcher DComLaunch

Thats the svchost.exe file stressing the CPU.

Do you have any USB devices plugged in? The PnP service you state suggests it might be a USB device gone rogue.

Might be worth checking device manager and checking you don't have any yellow warning triangles against any devices too.

I'd also recommend using process explorer, you can right click the process that's causing you problems and select properties which gives you a wealth of information.

Device Manager didn't show any rogue USB devices, and no warnings on any other pieces of hardware. so it all looks fine there. Used process explorer and its very useful  i managed to turn a few processes off but still it was loading my CPU, (though not as much) but on my investigation I came across a weird .exe file and noticed it came from spigot, inc. typed it in on google and it came up on avast as a trojan that most AV programs usually dismiss. so ran malwarebytes and it picked 2 files straight away so im hoping that this was the problem all along :) and can be resolved.

Just an annoyance that 4 full virus scans on every Drive, in 3 days brought back nothing. :(

So yep the file was called ApplicationLoader.exe and a text file, that sits in your program files folder, if you see, check it out and remove it just to be safe.
