Sorry if my spelling is awful, I need to use my phone as my pc is being quite retarded.

So, mobo ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155/Socket H2, Intel (90-MIBFIA-G0EAY0VZ)

Now things to keep in mind, am running a gen 3 on this gen 2 board however it has the latest bios on it which supports gen 3 cpus. Also got 4x4GB ram that normally runs at 1866mhz but yea not happening at the moment.

ANYWAY, this mobo has been a nightmare. First it wouldnt boot for hours. Just a red light for ram. Well i fixed that and got it to boot on all 4 sticks of this ram at 1333mhz. Anyway the next nightmare was blue screens on windows 8.1 so i thought id reinstalled. Welp it restarted 17% through it and now windows is courrpted. It also locks up in bios A LOT. Normally its stable at 1333mhz and high volts for cpu etc but i neee to get windows 8.1. Anyone know if it fits on a 8gb pen?

Anyway, long story short i bought this mobo on a bid to get 1866mhz for my ram and it seems ive made the problem worse rather than better...

is it crashing in the bios?

with 16gb try enabling xmp memory profile then manually set vccio voltage to 1.10v

then see if its more stable

Well it crashed on me during a windows restall and closed down. Meaning its just courrpted the entire thing and i dont even have a dvd drive. Amazing mircosoft dont even have a 8.1 iso ...

try with just one ram stick installed till you've installed windows

idk where you'd get an iso from tbh

Well well, I finally got it to work. Am up and running 8.1 on that mobo. I do like it, far better than my old one.

I also found out the problem with the ram. Turns out the CPU wont go to 1866mhz, It just errors in memtest. However on my friends gen 2 its prefect, No errors on any sticks.

Looking at devils I5s right now. Time to upgrade me thinks.

it will run if you up the vccio voltage I think

be sure to update to latest bios, its a good board ive had mine a long time an no trouble with it

devils canyon wont fit that board tho,you need z87/97 and tbh id stick with what you have for the mo but upto you

Dude, Vccio is at 1.1v instead of 1.05v, Ram is at 1.6 and cpu is quite high too. Memtest reports errors every time. I believe its a really crappy memory controller on the CPU since the ram works fine at 1866 on my friends mobo and thats at stock voltages!

Also, Am getting a new mobo with devils.

Looking at picking up this one :P

Also, It will randomly just shut down and when I restart I get a red led on the ram. If I turn it off and on again. It goes away and reboots into windows. Windows runs fine for ages then once again, Turns off for no reason. Ugh, Am just going to buy the new mobo and be done with it.
