Hello,
I need some help.....

The mic on my Kave's is giving up, people can barely hear me. The mic on my lifecam is far too sensitive and you can hear me typing and the key presses so thats too full on.

What would be a good intermediate?
I don't mind a new headset if it's better than the Kave's but can't be lots of money and MUST be brand new.

Will be connecting to an Asus D2X if it helps

All help appreciated

Budget?

~£1.50 = clip on mic from DX (keep your Kaves)
~£30 = Koss PortaPro + clip on mic or HTF600s + clip on mic.
~£50 = CAL! (w/ free clip on mic from OcUK).

That's literally all there is to discuss here with regards to product suggestions :p

Budget was up to around £50/60

Will the sound be better than my kaves then? I like the 5.1 the kaves give me as I often hear people sneaking up on me from behind in games like bf4 and arma 3. Will I still get that?

The CALs certainly will be. You'll loose the semi-virtual/semi-true surround sound but you will find that positional accuracy will actually improve. The CALs will also be much better for any music you do listen to, if indeed you use your headphones for that purpose.

If you are able to reach £60 it may also be worth looking at second hand ATH AD700s - pretty much the best gaming headphone around.
