Need new awsome FPS

can i ask a quick question regarding cod2 , is it possible to add bots to a lan game ? my young son loves playing FPS but i wont let him online yet,so instead we play the likes of BF2 and open arena against the bots

he wants to play COD4 as i play this a lot but theres no bot support, i thought i may buy cod2 instead, before i do tho i need to make sure you can add bots ?

If you like multiplayer (I'll assume since you mentioned COD4), then TF2 all the way.

With nice selection of distinct classes you will find one that suits your style. You may even discover that you prefer different classes on different maps.

you can have bots on cod4 :p but get him online my sons be playing online since he was 4 now 8 and hes getting a bit good . was looking for a really good team to get him in but no one that ive looked at takes kids under 16 :(

cod 1 or uo is my fall back but its like cs as in theyve been out years and you ll get a bit miffed at the super headshot skillz of the regular players.quite a long learning curve, but that is what made it so good compared to the console ports of cod2+4 which are designed for console rednecks with club fists :p

Good thing that clans don't allow -16 (-18 on clans I have been with)shouldn't be playing that kinda of game at that age + also adult discussions on Teamspeak.

Buy him some Legos.

Why shouldnt he be playing it.just like any other sport really and in a few years it will be considered like one.where just behind in uk.in other countries the future gaming stars gets grants , help like any of there big sports stars.

i understand the ts issue but if your with a decent bunch who have a brain they will be ok and not scream profanities like a cs nut :p

im looking for more of a pro setup for him as hes played with clans of decent structure for a long while and needs to move on a bit up the skill ladder.

he often plays under my name and they think its me :D which is always good when he speaks on ts and they just go silent due to being wooped by a 8 year old :p used to do vids of him playing cod 2 when he was 5 cause most didnt believe it lolz.

You don't say if you want SP or MP, what type you like (slow and tactical or fast and hard - no jokes :P )

Not sure about what's coming up (probably a load of rubbish juding by the last few games i've played) so here's some old good uns.

Slow and tactical:
Rainbow 6 Raven Shield
Swat 4

Fast and Hard:
CS:S
BF2142/BF2

Like i say, old but still good

I like both, but mainly MP ones with some tactical element

CS:S Was ruined when they introduced the stupid map along with various other updates, UT3 is good but has crap number of servers, hardly any that are decent ping

Better still, some books.

I have to agree here, I bend the rules slightly with my 2 son's, but giving an 8rd old a game that is rated for 16+ is something I would never consider, possibly early teen maybe.
Then again some ppl use any kind of language infront of children, so team chat online is hardly going to different for them.

Anyway if you have not tried Tf2 give the demo a go, I honestly did not expect to like it when I was bought 'Orangebox' as a gift, but It is good fun.

why did i put google it if i hadnt done it myself :p i know some people who do it and a lot of people use bots to start a new server off as it takes less time to establish it.i was asked by my mate if we wanted bots on a few of our new servers but i said i wasnt bothered.ill ask him tomorrow if hell help you.

the google came up with over ten pages of none existent cod 4 bot threads :p

Sounds promising Dg :)

bear in mind tho i want to add bots to a local game NOT to a dedicated server so as such ive been searching for info on adding the bots to a local game/host pc and found didly so far :(
