Guys/Ladies,

I need a spec for an upgrade. Am willing to spend £500.

I need MB, CPU, Memory, Cooler, Graphics Card, very quiet CPU (have a hyperX which I am worried will blow!). Have a Sata Raptor and large drive and a DVD Rewriter so don't need those.

Usage is mainly gaming, abit of Office/Photoshop but mainly WOW.

Am abit lost on current hardware but am thinking dual or quad intel, 8800GT rest is unknown.

Thoughts? Regards Neil.

Many thanks. If I skipped the case what would you alter?

Without the case you get a better board (the OCUK one is still very good)

Better CPU cooler (ACF7 is still better than stock)

4GB RAM (2GB is fine if your in XP although I feel 4GB is the norm for Vista)

You could also save £5 and get the E2180 as that would probably overclock very far.

You overclocking?

Quad isn't really needed atm and by the time it is (for what you want to do at least) it will be cheaper or the penryns will be out in force ;)

Other than that a nice spec you got's there ;)

I wasn't intending on overclocking, am still to fearful of it :o

I might throw in another £100 and see where that get's me. Any ideas on £600 inc Case?

depending on you're taste have a look at the antec 900 gaming and the antec p182.

system will be fine running at default then once you have a bit more confidence give over clocking a go, plenty of people around willing to help you along.
