I have a budget max of £180

He has a receiver already, why would he want a set of PC speakers

I'd be looking to slowly build up a system, or go second hand. Do you want small satellites or bookshelf speakers? Check out richer sounds, I'm sure they'll have items in your budget.

I'd go for a couple of pairs of bookshelf speakers and a centre, then add a sub later, otherwise it'll eat too much into your budget (like all of it lol).

Oh sorry.. I missed that part lol :D

I would like some bookshelfs to go on my desk so i can move the floorstanders i hacve behind me, i will be taking the book shelfs speakers to uni.

Had a look at that site, the CAMBRIDGE AUDIO SL30, DALI LEKTOR 2 and MORDAUNT SHORT AVIANO 1 are all in my price range, going to have to look at reviews for them all now.

The budget is just for the frontspeakers, il probally get a gemini2 subwoofer as my subwoofer after xmas.

I've listened to all the ones you mentioned, and was going to say the Aviano 1 speakers anyway. They are brilliant, made my dad get them as well for the audio quality.

Stay away from the cambridge audio in my view. I like dali over ms most of the time, but you need to hear them yourself and decide. Find a dealer you can borrow them frm for a few days and audition them at home if you can beore you buy.

I wouldnt have thought many places in this price range (Richer Sounds, etc) would've let you do home demo's
