had asked this question in GH but only got 1 answer, so i'll ty again here :D

looking for an ssd, but my motherboard-gigabyte P55A-UD3-uses the manky Marvel 9128 chip as the 6gbs controller chip, so i believe i'm better of using the 3gbs intel controller

the one reply i got from GH was this

1 x Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive £183.98
1 x Startech PEXSAT31E1 1x eSATA + 1x SATA 6 Gbps PCI Express SATA Controller Card Adapter £29.99

anyone else care to comment or offer any other advice?

The only thing I'd say is make sure you need the space, otherwise get a smaller one and save some ££. I've got a 160gb ssd, and it's never been over half full. I could quite easily have got away with a 60gb, but hey ho!

In fairness I would probably be just fine with a 60gb ssd. But I think I'd rather have too much free space on it as opposed to taking the risk of running out of space later down the line.

isnt the m4 a marvel based ssd anyway? still should get ok results

didn't know that, wonder if it helps? not that i suppose it matters, the ssd will be a pretty decent upgrade over my mech hdds and i can always carry it over when i upgrade the motherboard and cpu-tho i'll probably hold off till ivy bridge before i upgrade-whenever that may appear!
