Hi,

I have an msi r9 280x gfx card and for some reason my 2nd monitor says no signal every time and is it not even detecting from windows(i have win7), I tried replacing cables even the monitor and still the same problem for some reason it only detects one monitor of the 2.(tried both hdmi/dvi) I also reinstalled different drivers and still the same

any suggestions please

im not really into multi monitors settings
are you using any adapters ?
like dvi to vga, i know that dvi single link can carry analog, but not the dual link DVi that need an active adapter
if your monitors have hdmi and dvi, i dont see why this isn't working
also try this simple locking the windows (Win + L) maybe it will do the trick

What drivers are you using? Might be worth trying a different set of drivers. I am not familiar with CCC but does it show up in there at all?

Do you get an display on both screens if you go into your BIOS? That could point to hardware problem if not, and Windows problem if you do.

Assuming it's a Windows problem, what happens when you go into CCC > Desktop Management > Creating And Arranging Desktops. Now click "Detect Displays". How many monitors are showing in the WHITE box at the bottom? If two, right click on the one that doesn't have a number and select "Extend"

Post back your results (to either/both of the above) and we'll see what other ideas the forum can come up with. :)

EDIT: If you swap the monitors round (leave the cables plugged into the GPU the same way, just swap the cables at the monitor end) does the display stay on the same cable/GPU connection, or does it stay with the same screen?

at the moment i unpluged the monitor that was working and tried only using the other monitor but the strange thing is that when i plug it with dvi to vga adapter it works, with hdmi or dual link dvi it just says no signal on both, even on the bois screen.

tried updating the bios, and used the 14.2,14.4,14.6 drviers but on all just shows the same problem

also just tried right now i plugged the monitor that is working(lg m227wdp) with the same dvi dual link that on the other monitor won't detect (benq 2411z) and it reads it so it must be a software problem right?,should I just format the pc?

edit: formatted PC yet still nothing changed only works with dvi to VGA adapter, which sucks because I can't use my 140hz benq :(

Make sure the Mobo Bios is latest but even with that a lot of the GPuUissues more so AMD are down to the Gigabyte Mobos.

Could be the card but other had issues with Gigabyte Mobos with recent series AMD's and a few Nvidia users also.

The latest Bios seems to help some of them but others had to contact support.
