MSI Z87-G45

VGA BOOST

MSI VGA Boost is one of MSI's exclusive ways to support gamers to fully engage in their virtual world.

VGA Boost increases the power limitations for MSI GAMING graphics cards when inserted in an MSI GAMING motherboard. It simply upgrades your Power Tuning and current limits allowing your graphics to boost to higher clock speeds when your gaming graphics get more intense and sustain maximum performance for a longer time.

This is all supported because of the power design for the PCI Express slots and the build quality of MSI Graphics cards. Now, matching MSI gaming hardware not only gives your game PC some fiery red dragon looks, your PC gaming experience will benefit from a safe and powerful boost in graphics.

how about this board?

i just checked your link and even this board has the overclocking feature so what would be the difference with the msi mpower board since that has the auto overclock feature aswell, therefor surely the msipower which is a bit more pricey would be better simply because of the cost increase if both boards do roughly the same thing (auto overclock button) and overclocking

im checking your link now

As I have already said previously, look for a board that meets your requirements in terms of features, sli/xfire capable.
Besides gaming, what else will the system be used for?
What, apart from the monitor, will you be connecting.
There is absolutely no point paying £200, when a £100+ board will do everything you need it to do.

i hope you know your **** about computers man because i aint as clued up, you have tempted me to just buy this board now, for some reason ive got that novice experience thinking if it is a higher price the quality and stability of the board is gonna be stronger and last longer, or am i wrong with this? also correct me if i am wrong but when you say sli that means up to 2 graphics cards, so i could use 2 msi gtx 780 lightnings if i wish? also what does xfire capable mean...besides gaming i will record video's possibly aswell and i stream a lot on twitch.tv so if you think this board will give me all that and anyone else reading this thread let me know please guys.. right now i basically feel like a blind man being guided through the streets.

SLI means you can run two cards. They dont have to the same make (lightning) but it helps if they are. Some boards can even run 3 and 4 cards.

XFire is the same as SLI but for AMD cards.. SLI is Nvidia.. So basically 2 x 290xs is 290x Xfire.. And 2 x 780's is 780SLI. :)

If anyone knows what there on about its idleman..

A common misconception is a more expensive board is "more stable" in some cases it's right.. But between £140-£250 boards its just a case of more features as those £140-£180 boards have very good components and great cooling solutions.

The MPower board costs more than the G45 Gaming board because it is geared towards OCing, better OCing features. As you don`t want to OC, it seems pointless paying more. The G45 also offers you the VGA Boost, which I pointed out to you in a previous post. It also will allow you to OC in the future, when you have read a bit more about OCing and feel confident enough to try. You can also get help in the Overclocking forum for both the Cpu and your Gpu.
And believe me, I understand how confusing a lot of this must seem, we all started out the same.
Sli=2 Nvidia cards. Xfire=2 AMD cards.
The G45 and 4770K will meet your needs.

guys i am so grateful you are taking your time with me because sometimes when it comes to other things i am clued up about and someone is so eager to know i cannot be arsed so you are teaching me to give some time to others now aswell. thanks for the time, im still gonna be talking on this thread as i wanna make sure the £1600 budget is gone to mega value..just sucks now i bought the msi gtx 780 lightning for £470 even though its a huge discount its still money kill on a extreme overclocking card, i wanted the kfa2 but i was literally a hour late on the last one in stock and i just went for any good cooling out of the box OC card there is and also one with good value which was the msi card. idleman that basket you just made looks really good, im not sure about the tower corsair it looks a bit pricey overkill..or perhaps its a good thing because of good airflow i am not sure if i should get a cheaper case and put the money towards something else..also is there a better with lower price CPU i can go for, someone said that the K cpu series is for overclocking and i dont think i will ever overclock.. so maybe a higher cpu card if that makes sense guys? and thank you for explainning SLI and XFIRE i can assure you this is inplanted into my head now because i wanna learn as much as possible with computers.

Wall! :)

If you won't be overclocking you can go for a 4771, its an i7 still, just about £40 cheaper, due to it not being to overclock..

The carbide 540 is an aquired taste, personally im not a fan, but it is a very good case..

I'd personally go with the 300R, though you can't use the h100 with that only the H80 (as the roof is too close to the motherboard tray).

Thoughts?

The Phanteks coolers are highly regarded - they're among the best air coolers you can get.

Your PSU will be fine.

only reason i have major conercn with checking stability with overclocked boards is that last time i purchased a "sysetm bundel" pc the motherboard and psu was basically fried and i ended up getting the pc refunded by overclockers so i am just making sure all my components woulld be super safe if i was going to buy this board
