Im looking at getting an SLI board and a single 8800GT now with a view to adding another later..am I going to find in a years time that the new batch of cards need PCIE 2.0?

If buying a new board now should I be looking for one that supports PCIE 2? Or is not necessary?

Hmm bit of a conflict there :D

Ive been looking at a 680i SLI chipset, was just about to order and then wondered..

It looks like 8800GT's are PCIE2 but im guessing theres not many running them in PCIE2 slots?

If you buy an SLI board now with an 8800GT then in a year you will have two options for upgrading. Either buy a second 8800 or buy two of a new card. The thing is, that if you splash out £400 on new graphics cards this time next year, are you not better off just upgrading your mobo and CPU at the same time and going Nehalem? You may as well just stick to P35/680i.
