Iv been having problems with my computer for a long time now.. restarts..lock ups...i got an overclockers bundle in december and im still having the same issue so all thats left is the PSU or the graphics cards. I will eventually be getting a single card solution as im tired of crossfire issues and my motherboard only runs crossfire at x16 and x4 so im going to get a more powerfull single card.
My issues could be releated to my power supply.
Its an arctic pro 950 watts which isn't that great a brand and its 3 years old so iv decided to get a new PSU and see if that fixes my issues.

What would be a good one to get and what wattage would be ideal?

Im running 8gb of ram, i5 3570 cpu at 4.4ghz and 2x5870 cards in crossfire overclocked.

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions...Would 750 watts be enough for what im running considering im on a 950 watt psu at the moment...plus in the future ill be getting a much more powerfull card.

Yes 750 is enough, you are only look at the 1k mark if you are running 3 cards or a lot of drives.

A crappy 750 is not enough however, for instance that PSU you have is pretty pish, would be lucky if it is providing anywhere near the load it says it can.

Get a good XFX, Seasonic or if you are really right on funds, BeQiuet.

5870 CF Benchmark

Scroll down and you will see it's a shade under 600W (total system draw) when being bennchmarked, it's lower when gaming.

You have an Ivybridge setup which most likely has a much lower power consumption than the rig they were using at the time. Also GPUs have been following suit and dropping power consumption with each generation.

750W would be enough to Xfire 7950s or SLi 670s, if you wanted to pay the little extra for 850W nobody would blame you. However didn't you say you would sell the GPUs and drop to a single GPU? If so 750W is OTT for that, 500W is enough for a single GPU setup but you need something to power those 5870s now hence me spec'ing the 750W XFX

I would say im willing to spend up to £100 on a psu....so would 1 x XFX 750W XXX Edition Modular '80 Plus Silver' Power Supply £83.99 be the way to go then? Is there much difference to the bronze one? Since the silver is out of stock at the moment.

Yeah i would eventually drop the crossfire and go to a single card setup...i was waiting till the next set of cards become available before doing so as my 5870's in crossfire overclocked still run everything at 1080p on highest settings minus AA.
