Have you managed to demo them yet? I've got a new desk and now have space for them so interested in your thoughts.
Need recommendation on good speakers and sound card for music and gaming

I did! And they were impressive. Demo'd over Bluetooth with APTX HD. I didn't try with USB. One review said with USB the quality is much better (as did a retailer), and another review said APTX HD and Bluetooth are no different. I have a new desk too lol and my speakers should come next week! Will maybe get a REL TZERO MK3 sub later. I think you will be hard pressed to find a better speaker for the desktop than these tbf.

I bought the Ruark's in the end. No regrets, they sound amazing and they look amazing. 
I had a little weird issue with the speakers. I wanted to run them with a line out from my DAC, but Spotify sounds a bit crackly, though high res files sound perfect. Has to be a DAC or Windows issue so now use optical for Spotify then just switch to the DAC and line out for high res. Easy enough with the knob on the top.

Budget £400 for speakers only or inclusive of DAC / amplifier?
Space requirements? e.g. small desk footprint or studio/large room
Same for GPU, and soundcard.

Or buy an overpriced aftermarket one for around £2000 which has some lights and an extra fan on
