Hello

I'm building a new system and needed some advice on memory to use.

Motherboard Asus Tuf gaming z790
Processor Intel i7 14700k
will be paired with the rtx 4070 super or super ti

So my question is what is the best ddr5 memory for gaming that supports this system?

Thanks for reading.

6000mhz C30 is usually the ideal.

If you want guaranteed compatibility then look at your motherboards memory qvl list on the manufacturer website, but most memory work anyway.

Your welcome , it doesn't have to be exactly C30 but aim for 6000mhz

This is on pre order but you may have to look around

there are other of the same members with c38 or c38 in stock.

FYI: if you haven't purchased this yet and haven't been following the news, buying a 14700K is a bit risky right now.

Thanks for the heads up :) have the motherboard but not bought the chip yet. Will hold off and see how this plays out.
12th gen has been out for awhile and so far as we know is not affected, so you could consider getting a 12600K or 12700K (there's been some big deals on these CPUs lately, around £150 and £200 respectively) instead. They're slower CPUs and would need slower memory, but they'll be fine with a 4070 Super.

12th gen then the i9-12900KF looks pretty good with the 4070 ti super, so reading the intel page its saying DDR5 4800 MT/s what memory would you recommend for low latency?

I'm also running a benq 1440p monitor at 165hz so really trying to make sure I hit that 165fps.

I'm not sure I'd want to put £300+ into a 12th gen CPU and I'd imagine the majority of games (except maybe competitive esports) will be primarily GPU-bound @ 1440p, but to answer your question, I believe 2 sticks at up to 6000 is pretty safe for these CPUs, but 6200+ is dependent on the CPU and the motherboard. You could go up to 6400 and it might work, but any higher and I wouldn't bother, unless you plan to downclock it and use it in a future build or an upgrade once/if the issues with 13th-14th gen are sorted out.

Thanks for the advice Tetras. I've gave myself 3 month to upgrade so I've got the case, motherboard, m.2 drive and the Psu so just putting money aside for the bigger components. This extra time might show fixes to the 13-14gen fingers crossed. What a time to upgrade lol!!

Ah, I see. Still, if it was me, I think I'd just get a 12600K/12600KF for ~£150 and use that for a few years and then maybe upgrade to the mythical "Bartlett Lake" (..if it ever appears), since hopefully those CPUs won't be broken and they'll be a direct replacement in the same socket.

What a time to upgrade lol!!
Definitely not the best, if you like Intel :o

Well after thinking long and hard I've decided to send the intel board back and go amd.

Going to buy the Asus tuf gaming b650-plus motherboard as its cheaper and match it with the Ryzen 7 7800x3d.

Thanks to all that helped on this post :)
