Need recommends! (previously Samsung QE55Q70)

What would the issues with this set be?

The q70? It’s a mid range TV with a premuum price tag. Q9FN has far more dimming zones (480 vs 48), q70r doesn’t have one connect box either. The Q9FN would be comparable to the Q90r.

It's not a bad TV but I'm not sure what the price ends up being for you. My rule of thumb would be, if it's cheaper than a Sony XF90 or an LG B8, it's worth considering. If not, then absolutely not.

I'd advise you to read this thread from the owners of it and make up your own mind, most don't seem too thrilled with it for various reasons.

RTINGS' review: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/q70-q70r-qled

The price ends up at £50 p/m, for 24 months so £1200 total.

It’s not a terrible price, but even with your discount still makes it about £200 too expensive for me. But for paying monthly interest free it’s ok.

Deal is off - it was a pricing mistake. This leaves me now needing a TV. I have upto £2k to spend, but saving cash is good too.

As much as I would love 65” I think it is just too big and the missus would kill me.

Any recent recommendations?
Gaming, Sky Q and Movies. Ideally no lag or motion issues !

Sadly all the new arrivals are overpriced as usual and my initial pick (C9) is quite a bit over your budget. Pricing becomes sane again near Black Friday but otherwise I'm sticking to the previous: B8/C8 or XF90, depending on how you feel about OLED vs LCD. Would definitely advise you to load up a USB stick with some short clips to test & then go into a store and ask to try them out.

For 55" you could look at the Sony XF90, still available around £1k. For OLED the LGB8 can be had for £1060 or the C8 around £1340.

This years new releases are not worth the premium.

My only concern is the screen burn; things like the floating graphics in the top corner of screens (BBC, E4 etc) and in games where there is a HUD...

Yes its an inherent risk with the technology. Personally I chose not to buy OLED for this reason.

I read up on it, and the substantial testing done by Rtings and surmised that burn-in won't be an issue for me so long as I don't use the TV for 8hrs+ a day, which we don't. Bought the TV from Richersounds, hopefully delivery soon!
