Need some advice on how many rads

Hi guys,

I'm basically changing my loop and case, from just the cpu & gpu being under water to:

Complete motherboard
Ram
Gpu (gtx 6790, overclocked)
Cpu (3930k, overclocked)

Currently i've got a tripe and a dual rad in a cosmos ultra but that case is massive & totally unusable as i have to move the rig from uni and back all the time..

Anyway :) , i'm wanting to get a TJ07 and i know they have support for a quad 120 rad in the bottom and a 360 rad in the roof (with a bit of cutting). I've also heard that it is possible to get a 240 in the bottom behind the quad, but i'd rather not do that because i'd like to keep my pump there.

Clearly it would be best to have the 360 rad in the roof along with the quad in the bottom, but im just wondering if the 360 is really needed? It would take 10-15 days for the mod and its rather expensive :(

So can anyone advise if a a single quad rad is enough for my rig? I would in the future like to add another 690 (when i can get one cheap)...

Thanks!

If the end goal is the 3930k + a pair of 690's (4 gpu cores to cool) I'd say you'll end up needing that extra 360.

While I love the tj07 this looks to be a job for something with a little more native rad room, the 900d is set to be unveiled today and will hold 480+360+more without mods, estimated price is around that of a tj07 too :)

Yeah that's the end game, if i ever get the cash!

Hmm i thought as much, cheers.

I'll have a look at that thanks, i just love the TJ07 & know the roof can be modded fairly easily and there's loads of cool aftermarket parts for them!

Just had a quick google and it seems that the 900d is massive, the idea is to downsize from the huge and heavy cosmos II Ultra.. but it does have an attractive price

You can mount a 240mm RAD in the front drive bay area(but this will limit HDD mounting) or top of a TJ07 with out cutting.
Even a single good 480 with good fans would be enough for 3930K + GTX690.
If you add mob and ram(totally useless in terms of performance but good with aesthetics) I would say add just 240 to be safe.

Never even thought of mounting a 240 in the drive bay areas, that's a great shout! Any ideas how it could be securely mounted though?! Also are there holes in the top for the radiator to screw to? (Although I think the 240 I have is a little too deep to fit there with the mobo).

Yeah they're just because I think it makes the inside look a bit nicer and I don't like the fan on the R4E southbridge

Can use 4 x L brackets to mount the 240mm RAD in the front.

DDC pump(MCP350, 355 & 35x) would fit in the bottom even if you use 480 + 240 RADs(WIth fans) in the bottom.
I had a HW Labs GTX480 + HW labs GTS240 RADs with fans in Push config in the bottom compartment with a MCP355 pump sandwiched in the middle.

900D is never going to be as little as £210 on release :D

I hope for Corsairs sake they don't, that pricing is trying to compete with the likes of MM/LD/XSPC/Caselabs, which they simply can't do. But we'll see, if they convert the USD pricing well I'd guess we're looking around £290.

Great cheers for the advice, looks like i'l stick with the TJ07 (they look too good!) install one 240 in the front, another in the bottom, along with a 480 as you suggested. Will link to the project log once i get started! :D

Changed my mind again... I'm gonna go for the XSPC H2 Tower, something a little bit different and it looks awesome (in my opinion)

I hate you and love you at the same time, my dream case that :)

Btw that case appears to be the ld v8 not the xspc h2+ ;)
