Just installed a Freezer 64 Pro and an Accelero into my system.

Firstly, the Freezer is installed and all the little clips are tightened and secure and it seems to be okay, however if I jiggle it a bit, it seems to move around. Is that ok?

I'm also going to have to carefully cut off some of the fan plug so it can fit into the header as well, reading the reviews it seems quite a few people have to do this.

The plug on the accelero also doesn't fit the header on my Leadtek 6800. However I am going to cut the plug off the old cooler and simply put it on the accelero.

Why is nothing ever simple!

Thanks in advance

It depends on how much it moves. The main part of the HSF is seperate from the part which has the clips on it. Mine moves, but only by a very small amount and it requires some force. If it moves a lot and easily, I would suspect that it is not properly seated. You should be able to tell soon enough as the temperatures will be high if it is not correctly installed.

Those clips worry me slightly - they don't seem to lock in a very positive way.

Well if I pull it a bit, one side of it comes away from the CPU a couple of millimeters. It sits there fine if I don't touch it though.

I'm just worried over time it may come loose.

Maybe once I've turned it on the thermal paste will help it stick better?

The thermal paste has no adhesive effect.

As long as all four locking thingumijigs are secure I would not worry about the slight movement you describe.

Just make sure you keep on eye on the temps and if you find they are quite high or deviating considerably then try reseating it.

Thank for all your replies.

I've done a bit of cutting & snipping and everything now fits into the relevant headers and everything works I'm pleased to say!

Bit of a shock when I turned the PC back on, was greeted by a continous beep and a siren noise. Turned out I had forgotten to plug the molex back into the graphics card :o Also the motherboard didn't like how slow the fan was running, (770RPM) so had to lower it's bleep value thing.

It's currently at ~23C (Cool'n'Quiet enabled) so I guess it's seated fine at the moment. I will keep an eye on it though.

Thanks for your help guys.
