You would want to use a dual link DVI connection or DisplayPort from your PC.

The Dell U2711 won't support the native resolution of 2560x1440 over HDMI.

You could then plug your Xbox into the HDMI and switch as necessary between the the connections.

You'd also need to sort out the sound from your Xbox as the monitor has no speakers.

The same monitor is cheaper here but only with 1 year warranty.

If you plan on playing PC games at 2560x1440 you'd better make sure you have a system which can cope with that.

Ok, thanks for that.

How would you suggest sorting the sound out?

I was planning on getting 2 570's or, if I can get enough money, 580's.

The monitor has connectors for outputting audio which could presumably pass through the audio from the HDMI to external speakers or the Dell Soundbar.

Failing that does the Xbox have its own audio outputs which could be directly attached to external speakers?

I don't own an Xbox so I don't know.

No, but it does have USB ports. I saw a converter to change a USB port into a 3.5mm headphone jack, but now I think it'll probably just use the one on the monitor.

That USB port to headphone jack wont work on an Xbox. Do you have a new or old style Xbox? If its the old one, I bought a Xbox Optical Out cable (Google it as not sure what links i can put here), which also has a analog stereo out, which you can connect to external speakers.

Its a new style Xbox, but I was only going to use that adaptor if the monitor didn't have its own 3.5mm jack.

I've got it all planned out in my head now anyway ;)
