Hi all, am in the middle of getting together the parts for my first self built PC and am stuck a little on the case.
The components I have chosen so far are:
Intel Core I52500K
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3P mobo
8GB Corsair Vengeance Red (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
The theme i'm going for is red led's, will be a red led heatsink fan for the CPU and if possible on the case fan's as well.
Looking for a case that will accomodate the red theme and also have a window to see my components!
I will be attempting OC'ing for the first time so good air flow would be good as well!

These are the closest thing I can find so far (would have to pre-order though).

Sharkoon T28 Black/Red Midi Tower Windowed Chassis w/ USB3.0
£57.59
Sharkoon Tauron Black/Red Midi Tower Windowed Chassis w/ USB3.0
£79.19
What are the differences between the two?

After the case I still need GFX card (this shouldn't be hard), DVD/CD Drive (might want this to do blu ray re-writing not sure yet), Sound Card, Power Supply, still following red theme if possible!

My budget is around £700-£800.

Any suggestions and tips for a first time builder?

for a red theme mobo have you looked at the asus maximus?
ram there is also the g.skill ripjaws
if you wanted an ssd corsair force gt is red too

case wise i cant see a lot of difference but the tauron does have a fan controller which is helpful
have you considered the bitfenix shinobi or coolermaster storm enforcer or cm haf range cases?

red gpu probably be amd :P

soundcard the asus d2x is good

power supply look at corsair, be quiet and coolermaster

Thanks for the reply, as far as I can tell the mobo your are talking about is a fair bit dearer and is on p67 whereas the gigabyte one is z68. Now i'm not all that technical but reding up most people say the z68 chipset is better! Don't think its worth the extra money for something that isn't as good just because its red :P

The Ram I have put up there is red anyway and cost's about the same and is red anyway! I'll have a look at that SSD, since its small I may just got for the cheapest at 120 gb anyway.
Thanks about the fan control, that would be worth the extra money then! In terms of the cases you have suggested the second two seem to be good, again need to decide if the HAF x is worth double the money compared to the storm enforcer!

Nooby question but do I need a soundcard or do the outputs on the mobo suffice?

depends if your just a gamer probably be fine with on board sound

and as stinger has posted there is a z68 version if you are into overclocking i would advise it :)

remember their is the haf 912 a 922 and 932 for cheaper lol if i had my pick i would get the red nzxt phantom ;)

Internals are different eg.Tauron has rubber covers on the cable management too, also IMO the Tauron looks better. :)

Think i've decided on the tauron, I think the phantom is awesome but it doesn't have a window in it unfotunately :/ and i'm probably going to try and add some red led's to the inside!
Is it worth the extra £30~ for the Asus over the gigabyte mobo in terms of oc'ing? The fact it has some red in it kinda doesn't matter since the ram will be red anyway!
Speaking of ram anything better than the one I have chosen for around the same money again looking at oc'ing?

I can't find a red led heat sink fan, is there such a thing?
Also can someone look at the tauron case and advise where I can install any other red led fans and if I can remove any non-led fans and replace them with red led fans?
Think i'm going to use my current 650w PSU as you won't be able to see that anyway really and my current dvd drive!
Probably going to keep my low-end gfx card for the time being until the new gfx cards get released then will probably pick up a 550 or 660 GTX Ti depending on money.
