need some help getting my internet working again

WEll it is working, but very poorly, so this is the last chance im giving VM before i chuck it all out the window and ring up sky or something.

Ever since i got my linksys router, my internet has been awfully slow and disconnects all the time, i want to try it back on normal direct to modem connection, but ive tried it a few times but it just refuses to work that way now, is there anything i need to do, to make it work?

you need to unplug the modem for a hour so that it can de-register the Linksys Mac Address and when you switch it back on whilst plugged directly into the PC, it will register the PC's mac address.
 
im sorry, can someone please help, it just doesnt work no matter what i do now without the router, im pretty sure its the router that is causing me problems as ididnt get them before.

But my modem just doesnt work without the router now no matter what i do!
 
Turn off the modem and connect it to the pc via ethernet and then turn the modem on then turn the pc off and turn it back on.

That does the trick for me when I connect via my modem.
